Moore County's Inclement Weather page

Moore County Schools continually monitors inclement weather information from the Moore County Department of Emergency Management, the National Weather Service, local media outlets, and other weather resources to make informed decisions about whether to alter the district's operating schedule.

All inclement weather decisions must take into account road conditions across the entire county. For example, if inclement weather affects only one portion of the county, Moore County Schools will make its decision based on conditions in the affected area.

Moore County Schools will issue a notification of any change to the school operating schedule either the evening before an anticipated weather event or by 6 a.m. on the day of the event. If no notification is issued by 6 a.m., schools will operate on a normal schedule.

If a weather event develops during the school day, notifications will be issued as soon as possible if the district decides to dismiss schools early.

Any change to the school schedule, including a delay, closing, or early dismissal, will be communicated through our district website, district social media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, and X, Infinite Campus Messenger 2.0, the district's communication system, and local media outlets listed below.

Families are encouraged to check multiple information sources case severe weather affects the district's communication systems. If you receive a phone call from the district but are unnable to answer, you may call the number back to hear a recording of the notification.

It is important that the district has current contact information for families, including home and work phone numbers and email addresses. Please contact your child's school to update your information as needed.
